More and more people decide to opt for parquet, especially in the sleeping area, because of the elegance and refinement that this material emanates.
The costs, however, are very high and you tend to buy, among the different types of parquet, the pre-finished, so you can lay it without the help of the employees. It consists of two-layer planks: a lower one, made of not very precious wood, and an upper one, made of fine, polished and varnished wood.
How to make the laying of the parquet to get an optimal result?
Needed:
- Pre-finished parquet planks
- Polyurethane mat
- Vinyl glue
- Rubber mallet
- Alternative saw
- Meter
- Scotch tape
- Team
Method:
Pre-finished parquet must be laid on the existing floor, thus eliminating the costs for removal. The most used method is called floating pose.
This method consists in spreading a particular layer of polyurethane material with a thickness of 2 mm that will act as an acoustic insulator.
On this mat will be placed the parquet planks, preferably starting from the longest wall and leaving a centimeter from the side walls because of the possible thermal expansion. The planks have on one side a milling and on the other the protruding element, which will fit into the milling of the next panel. Brush a layer of glue on the top of the ledge so that it adheres better. Use a rubber mallet to ensure a smooth joint, hammering gently on the joints.
Proceed through a panel, one after the other, until the floor is completely covered. The end parts will have to be cut with an alternative hacksaw.
At this point proceed with the application of the skirting board. There are two types of fixing: with screws and dowels or with glue. The first solution is more functional if one day you want to install another skirting board; the second one, on the other hand, is more aesthetic because of the absence of those annoying nails visible to the naked eye.
